Department Profile

The Institutional Securities Group (ISG) Central Risk Team (CRT) is a first line of defense (1LoD) team created to improve the management of non-financial risk across all ISG Business Units. The Surveillance, Supervision and Governance team sits within CRT and is responsible for managing a broad number of initiatives across ISG, spanning several topics including the Supervisory Framework. Technology enhancements and increasing transparency and efficiency across the division and it relates to our stripe.

Position Description:

The position available is a Vice President level position within the Surveillance, Supervision and Governance team. This will be a dual hat position to support the broader Governance and technology pillars of our team, which drive the management of non-financial risk across ISG. This position will be required to work in an agile manner across these pillars to implement strategic team objectives

Responsibilities Include:
• Ensure consistent implementation of NFR Framework across the ISG businesses
• Leading and participating in projects related to the overall ISG risk management framework
• Establishing and maintaining relationships and working closely with ISG supervisors, ISG Risk Management, Technology, Operations and Compliance
• Collaborate with compliance and business groups to drive root cause analysis of incidents and continuous improvement on risk governance
• Identifying, designing, testing, and implementing new controls to ensure that the Firm keeps pace with the evolving Regulatory environment
• Support governance forums and own communications across different working groups
• Partner with businesses to own enhancements of NFR Tools to increase efficiency
• Support ISG Supervision and Surveillance Controls Read Across project globally across ISG
• Responsible for creating project scope, wireframes, gain alignment and sign off from all stakeholders

Experience/ Skills Required:
• 5-7 years of related experience in the financial services industry
• Familiarity with Non-Financial Risk, particularly within a 1LoD function
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks and non-financial risk and controls
• Strong experience of managing regulatory requests and programs from US regulators
• Strong project management skills and proven ability to support projects through to completion, ideally within Capital Markets
• Strong motivation and a self-starter with a positive outlook and desire to solve problems with an ability to work independently with minimal guidance
• Strong analytical skills with an ability to leverage Excel, PPT, Project, Visio, etc.
• Ability to identify and escalate issues effectively and appropriately
• Exceptional organizational skills and a high degree of attention to details
• Ability to discuss in-depth technology initiatives and ability to work closely with technology teams
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and effective manner and thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Fixed Income and/or Equity surveillance background is a plus
• FINRA Series 7 & 24 Licenses are a plus

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $140,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of ,employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
