ISG has created an ISG Data Group (IDG) to provide single point of accountability for the full spectrum of data related commercial initiatives. This ranges from the defensive risk reduction aspects of data security (both internal and external), through operational efficiency from improving data quality, to helping enhance revenue through further leveraging our data assets for providing services to our clients.
The ISG Divisional Data Office (DDO) is part of IDG and is responsible for the oversight and integrity of the data used for senior management, regulatory or client reporting, or used by internal controls. Using a risk-based prioritization methodology, the team is responsible for working with control groups to prioritize key data which may require improvements in the controls to ensure integrity of that data.
Position Description
Morgan Stanley is seeking a Vice President who will work with the rest of the Front Office Data team to review key front office processes and the associated control framework, identify any control gaps, and define remediation plans doe these gaps. The ideal candidate would have a strong control mindset, good understanding of complex financial products and ideally would have worked in a control function like Risk Management, Audit, or a FO control unit.
This role is not suitable for candidates with heavy data architecture background, applications developers, or candidates with predominantly a project management background.
What will you be doing?
- Assess prioritization of various data initiatives
- Develop SME knowledge around key data governance processes and controls
- Conduct control coverage assessment, identify any control gaps, and develop remediation plans.
- Provide guidance & supervision to other team members.
- Track progress of the initiatives against timelines, provide status report to Senior Management and highlight risks and dependencies to meeting planned deadlines.
What we're looking for:
- 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
- Experience in people/team management.
- Knowledge of financial products / asset classes / risk measures
- Knowledge of the trade lifecycle & F2B data lineage/data flow experience
- Strong risk and control mindset, background in an independent control function preferred.
- Project Management - ability to scope, plan, and execute projects.
- Ability to build & maintain credible relationships.
