Department Profile
The Institutional Securities Group (ISG) Central Risk Team (CRT) is a 1LoD team created to improve the management of non-financial risk across ISG Business Units, with the aim of proactively identifying emerging risks and dynamically responding to risk issues as they arise.

As a front office risk management team, CRT partners with our ISG business stakeholders, as well as the infrastructure groups and 2LoD control functions to establish and maintain an effective Risk Management program that is appropriately tailored to ISG's non-financial risk profile. The team has a global presence with members located in New York, London, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Position Description:
The position available is an Executive Director position within the ISG CRT Asia team based in Hong Kong.

The individual will focus on ISG non-financial risk in Asia, particularly ISG activities and regulatory compliance across different markets in the region. As ISG CRT regional risk officer, the individual will act as the primary interface with key members of the ISG business units in regional offices, providing expert support and advice to business units on risk identification and issue management.

The individual will also be required to lead a number of regional initiatives across the OPERA Risk Pillars (Operational Risk & Resilience, E-Trading, Regulatory and Audit) to support the embedding of global frameworks, including for Lessons Learned, Read Across and the review of emerging risks. The individual will work with global/ regional counterparts and a number of stakeholders from across the three lines of defence.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Support Head of ISG Asia CRT in implementing the firm's global non-financial risk framework in Asia, including setting standards, conducting cross-ISG monitoring, and formalizing risk escalation path
  • Partner with ISG business units on identifying and resolving risk issues as appropriate, with a particular focus on ISG-wide, thematic issues
  • Support across key Asia regulatory exams and remediation programs, as well as Asia regulatory change implementation
  • Host monthly ISG-wide non-financial risk forums to facilitate communication of key risk topics between global and regional risk teams and promote knowledge sharing across BUs
  • Work with the global CRT team to implement key non-financial risk metrics and assessing the effectiveness of the control environment.
  • Execution of Asia actions of broader global framework including Lessons Learned; Read Across; Emerging Risks; Regulatory and Remediation Engagement Framework
  • Oversight and facilitation of Asia ISG Audit and Compliance Testing reviews in 2025 plan based on the OPERA ownership and execution principles
  • Convene ISG Command with cross-functional 1L and 2L representation that provides global coordination and awareness in response to significant risk events

Experience / Skills Required:

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry either in a business unit (COO, trading, etc.) or 2nd Line legal, regulatory, compliance or other risk management functions
  • Bachelor's degree required
