Our New York office is looking for a Vice President or Executive Director candidate to join the Strategic Investments team.
Strategic Investments makes and manages investments on behalf of Morgan Stanley across market infrastructure, trading and wealth management platforms, and innovative technology companies that are complementary to the Firm's overall strategic agenda.
Team members manage the full investment lifecycle from sourcing, selection, evaluation, due diligence, negotiation and closing to post-investment portfolio management, strategic involvement and exit considerations.
Responsibilities include deal sourcing and structuring, presenting to the Investment Committee and other internal stakeholders, managing cross-functional teams to evaluate investment opportunities, as well as monitoring of strategic investment portfolio, as well as capital and risk considerations.

Strategic Investments fosters a collaborative in-person work culture. The individual will work closely with the rest of the team as well as colleagues across products and functions firmwide to identify and assess investment opportunities and manage the portfolio.
Successful team members in the group are creative and structured analytical thinkers with a passion for investing and Morgan Stanley's businesses.
Qualifications:
• 8+ years of experience in investment banking, venture / growth equity, private equity, strategy consulting, corporate development, or corporate / M&A law
• Track record of sourcing and leading transaction and/or investment opportunities
• Experience as a portfolio manager; owning and managing portfolio PnL / investment returns
• Excellent interpersonal skills; relevant existing relationships across entrepreneur and investor communities
• Strong financial acumen
• Prior knowledge and interest in Financial Services and Technology sectors

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $275,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
