Department Profile

The Equity Client Coverage group (ECC) is a cross-divisional business between the Institutional Equity Division (IED) and the Investment Solutions Division (WM). ECC provides high touch, value added account coverage through trading, research idea generation, and corporate access to a specific client segment within IED. Salespeople are compensated on a commission model, driven by trading production across institutional Firm products.

Summary of Role and Responsibilities

The ECC Salesperson facilitates equity sales and trading coverage for ECC accounts. Responsibilities include providing relevant industry commentary, dissemination of research and news flow, corporate access, and connecting specialized trading desks in the Institutional Equity Division to facilitate cross-asset sales across various product segments.

Principal Duties
  • Act as primary sales contact for Institutional Equity Accounts
  • Communicate fundamental and technical information about global market dynamics.
  • Provide accurate and timely dissemination of news and trading flows.
  • Maintain daily client communication and frequent visits.
  • Monitor client trends, understand rationale, disseminate Firm resources as appropriate.
  • Cross-sell the Firm's products and specialized trading desks
  • Understand industry regulations and how such impact ECC's client base.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree in economics, Finance, or related field of study and 3-5 years of experience in the position offered or a similar field. Position requires demonstrated experience in establishing and growing a book of institutional business.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will have the following attributes:
  • Service oriented with an ability to build relationships with key client decision makers.
  • A thorough understanding of the research product and the ability to deliver and monetize a synchronized product to clients
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Ability to prioritize client orders/ requests in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to grow and develop skills for execution across all Equity product lines.
  • Motivation to continue to build and differentiate our offering from the competition.
  • Operate in a team environment and provide seamless support to clients.
  • Effectively interface with internal traders and other colleagues
  • Ability to work with senior management to produce short/long-term strategic plans.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
