The Alternative Investments (AI) Sales Team sits within Wealth Management, representing the full Alternative Investments Platform. The AI Regional Sales Director, in partnership with the Alternative Investments Sales Desk, is responsible for marketing and educating Private Wealth and Financial Advisors. As an expert and trusted resource within the Wealth Management Business, the AI Sales Director will represent hedge funds, private equity, private real estate, private credit and other Alternative Investment strategies within a designated sales territory. The Alternative Investments platform has over $200 billion of assets consisting of both Third-Party and Proprietary Asset Managers
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all sales efforts for the MSWM Alternative Investments platform for the Northwest region
- Extensive travel to branch offices in the Northwest Region to educate Advisors and clients on the risks and benefits of alternative investments
- Build new and maintain existing relationships with Advisors in the territory
- Coordinate the efforts of third-party wholesalers/resources within the respective territory
- Run regional events and roadshows with fund managers to educate MS Advisors and clients on alternative investment strategies and products
- Host FA and client seminars / meetings
- Work across the department with the product development, research, investor relations, and operations teams on demand assessments, marketing materials, etc.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- 5 - 10 years of alternative investments experience
- BS / BA degree required
- Active Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) required upon hire or within 120 days of hire date
- Completion of or progress toward CFA/CAIA is a plus but not required
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Willingness to engage in extensive travel
- Ability to explain complex information clearly and simply
- Ability to make presentations effectively
- The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and organized
- Prior experience working in wealth management or financial services
- Sales and marketing experience
- Knowledge of alternative investments
- Must be a team player with the ability to work effectively in a team or independently
- Ability to represent the firm professionally with internal and external contacts
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint programs is a plus

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $250,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
