Morgan Stanley's Technology Banking Group is part of the Investment Banking Division (IBD) and advises corporations and institutions on the most monumental and complex transactions in the global marketplace. We develop and execute customized solutions for our clients, including equities (i.e. IPO, Direct Listing), M&A, and financing products, providing advice and services to top corporate executives, board members, and institutional investors on the most important deals of their careers. The group is headquartered in Menlo Park, CA with offices in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. This position will be based out of either Menlo Park or New York, and will collaborate frequently with our team members across our global offices including London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
Role Summary:
This is a highly dynamic, fast-paced role with global impact across the Investment Banking division, necessitating an autonomous, driven, and creative mindset to own all marketing initiatives across Global Tech Banking. You will also collaborate closely with the Investment Banking Division management team to knowledge share the team's best practices and help other coverage groups within the division get started with their own marketing initiatives.
The responsibilities include:
- Lead our strategic marketing efforts. Expand and up-level the group's engagement with clients in all aspects of marketing, including executive client networking summits, investor conferences, targeted direct marketing to the C-suite/Board, print and digital media. Innovate beyond the team's current baseline of events and marketing activities to generate new ideas. Bring those ideas from ideation to planning to execution.
- Lead the strategic direction to uplevel and scale our team's world-class events and manage teams to execute them with white-glove service for our executive clientele. Lead efforts to attract tier 1 speakers in the entertainment/sports/author spaces to our summits.
- Identify emerging themes with our clients by synthesizing insights from our senior bankers and understanding current market conditions. Proactively propose new marketing campaigns and activities that will resonate with our C-suite and Board client base to position our group as an industry-leading thought leader. Be the primary author in generating the content for these campaigns. Also work with publishers in the financial services industry to highlight this content and put our team's accomplishments on display.
- Lead our public relations and client communication strategy, including thematic mail blasts, podcasts, and social media outreach. Work with the firm's internal Corporate Communications team and external media to execute on this strategy. Harness the power of the Morgan Stanley network to bring our ideas to the forefront with clients.
- Lead our demand generation and client prospecting efforts. Develop an ecosystem of events, digital communications, and services for earlier stage private companies. Build relationships with Founder/CEOs and VCs to create a funnel of opportunities for the team as these companies scale.
- Analyze competitors' marketing/communications strategy and published content in order to enrich our own strategy. Report on this competitive analysis to senior management.
- Gauge effectiveness of our marketing campaigns by collecting and analyzing engagement data to improve future campaigns
- Increase engagement with alumni to keep them connected with our team's ongoing initiatives and accomplishments.
-Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in marketing and corporate communications roles, preferably with experience leading teams
-Familiarity with top private and public technology companies
-Experience working with financial services industry and understanding of investment banking a plus
-Experience managing executive events or conferences
-Strong written skills with experience authoring and publishing content
-Comfortable leveraging technology and automation to scale marketing efforts
-Self-starter, creative, and innovative. Ability to work independently or lead project execution teams.
Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $140,000 for a Manager and between $145,000 and $250,000 for a Vice President per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
