About the Division

Funding and Collateral Optimisation (FCO) is a dedicated business area within the Financial Resource and Strategy Division (FRS), that is responsible for the central management and execution of the Firm's secured financing transactions (including repo, TRS and secured notes) and the global optimization of collateral.

The Financial Resource and Strategy Division (FRS) sits alongside the Fixed Income (FID) and Institutional Equity (IED) divisions to collectively make up the Institutional Securities Group (ISG), and is responsible for managing CCP relationships and partnering with other ISG businesses to create and implement the financial resource strategy of the Firm, in conjunction with the fore-mentioned FCO coverage

About the Position

The FRS FCO role will be based in Tokyo and will have responsibility for secured funding and collateral optimization activity in the Asia region. Critically, you will own and drive projects to improve Morgan Stanley's funding and collateral optimization business, primarily by partnering with FRS globally, Sales and Trading, Operations, Technology, Legal, and Finance, ensuring the most optimal use of the firm's assets in line with liabilities, revenue targets and resource optimization objectives.

Key Responsibilities

What will you be doing?

Execution of Secured Financing Transactions
• Cross-divisional collaboration with members of Securities Lending, Client Financing, Sales, Corporate Treasury, Prime Brokerage, and trading desks across FID and IED to monetize firm assets externally in secured financing transactions.

Risk Management & Pricing
• Appropriately manage the risk profile of the term secured funding liability stack while hedging basis risk. Have an in depth understanding of various funding structures and alternatives to execute cost effective liabilities in bespoke markets. Manage Prime Brokerage funding profile to ensure compliance of both internal and external regulatory constraints.

Optimization with Resource Constraints
• Dynamic management of funding profile to optimize for current internal/external constraints, including SLR, LCR, NSFR, ILST and RWA. Understanding how to work with ISG stakeholders to drive resource optimization, including taking into account balance sheet, RWA, and the regulatory environment to maximize resource value and minimize financing cost.

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements

What we are looking for:
• Extensive background in Secured Funding and collateral management and optimization
• Trading experience. Strong interest in financial markets - particularly equity and fixed income financing markets (sec lending, repo, delta one) and short duration fixed income products (front end credit and rates)
• An understanding of key regulatory requirements and frameworks across the financing markets
• A core competency in project management and product delivery
• Competitive team player that measures success with results

Strong interpersonal skills
• Keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic environment
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

Strong presentation skills with ability to organize and deliver strategic initiatives
• Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Bloomberg

Japanese language ability, highly beneficial, but not essential
