Finance Tax Director (AVP-equivalent)

We are looking for a tax manager to join the EMEA tax department of a prestigious multi-national bank. The EMEA Tax Department is responsible for Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax, Business Unit Tax Advisory, US Tax Reporting and Tax Risk Management with offices in London, Glasgow, Frankfurt, Paris and Budapest. Members work closely across the EMEA region as with wider Finance, Treasury and Legal Departments.

What will you be doing?
  • Review and oversight of EMEA tax reporting and compliance processes, support deferred and effective tax rate calculations
  • Communication and reporting of EMEA tax positions to in- and external parties including external auditors, tax authorities and regulators
  • Correspond, meet and negotiate with German and other relevant tax authorities to resolve tax audits
  • Act as key point of contract and subject matter expert in German corporate tax and VAT related matters including system implementation, merger, integrations and similar projects
  • Maintain robust tax risk and tax compliance management systems
  • Oversight of sourcing and outsourcing activities for internal and external parties
  • Propose and develop appropriate financial strategies / planning
  • Drive innovation and process efficiency improvements
  • Proactively monitor international tax legislative changes and assess impact on the business, propose plan of action to senior stakeholders
  • Representation of Morgan Stanley on relevant German industry groups / bodies.

What we're looking for:
  • A qualified Tax Accountant, Tax Advisor or Tax Lawyer
  • Proficient German Tax reporting and compliance knowledge
  • Desire to develop project management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work with virtual teams across varying regions towards the achievement of common goals.
  • Aptitude for working in a swiftly changing, dynamic environment.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and able to interact with stakeholders across countries and cultures.
  • Self-motivated personality with high standards for quality of work, controls and accuracy

Where will you be working?

The Firm Tax team oversees Corporate Tax compliance, reporting and accounting in 25 jurisdictions across EMEA. The candidate will be in Frankfurt, reporting to the local Head of Tax. The candidate will have responsibility for a portfolio of companies and processes, across the EMEA region, and will lead / contribute to various strategic.
