The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manages risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Commodities Division is a market leader in energy, metals, and agricultural product trading worldwide whose professionals trade in both physical and derivative commodity risk.
Role Overview:
The NA Credit Flow business is looking for a desk strat in NY at the Associate/VP level for the Leveraged Finance business. Lev Fin is a growing business that covers multiple assets classes and includes the Special Situations Group (SSG). The candidate will join the global credit strat team and assist the levfin business by developing and supporting analytical tools and trading systems for the desk. The analytics foundation is a key asset to the business; as we take structured/unstructured data from various sources, run analytics/models, and identify trading ideas and opportunities. The trading systems handle various pricing and risks analytics for a wide range of risk positions and products across the capital structure. We aim to deliver the best trading execution, consolidated risk management, and optimal capital allocation. The candidate will solve business questions and build tools and reports using data-driven analytics. This role involves collaboration with traders, desk analysts, and sales as well as other stakeholders including but not limited to Tech, MRM, MRD, Finance and Ops.

Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain levfin analytic foundation and trading systems
- Expand business capabilities to handle additional structured and unstructured data and build analytics
- Develop, improve, and maintain trading systems and models
- Collaborate with the traders, sales, analysts and structurers for trading idea generation and execution
- Work with stakeholders on business agendas
Key Skills and Experience:
- A few years of experience in quantitative roles
- Coding experience, preferably in Kdb/q and python
- Experience in large scale data onboarding, analytics development is a plus
- Experience in fundamental financial analysis (e.g. financial statement, earnings, news) is a plus
- Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
- Ability to self-motivate, multitask, and work independently
- Communication skills to engage and interact with various group of people effectively

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 - $200,000 per year for AS and $200,000 - $250,000 per year for VP at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
