Morgan Stanley FID Secured Lending group ("FSL") is seeking a Vice President to be part of its Direct Lender Financing ("DLF") platform based in New York.
FSL sits within Morgan Stanley's Fixed Income Division and provides asset-backed financing facilities to asset originators, aggregators and financial sponsors.
FSL currently manages a portfolio backed by a diverse range of assets including private credit / corporate loans, fund capital commitments, consumer loans, residential and commercial mortgages, student loans, and commercial real estate loans across the US, Europe, and APAC regions.
The DLF team is looking for highly motivated, experienced candidates to focus on Morgan Stanley's growing corporate credit financing platform, which provides credit facilities to some of the Firm's most prolific clients globally. Previous experience in corporate credit or direct lender financing is required for the Vice President role.
Daily responsibilities would include:
• Preparation and review of credit applications/presentations for both new transactions as well as renewals/amendments to existing facilities
• Structure and negotiate term sheets, loan agreements, fee letters, and other legal documents from origination to execution
• Work with coverage groups on originating new transactions and onboarding new clients
• Conduct due diligence on a Manager's platform and asset underwriting strategy
• Interface with multiple constituents within FSL and Morgan Stanley, more broadly, including the Asset Management team, Syndication team, Credit Risk Management team, Operations team, and various client coverage teams to deliver a first-class product internally and externally
• Prepare ad hoc analysis as needed by senior management
Qualifications
Candidates must have the following background & skills:
• 4+ years of corporate credit experience ideally including corporate credit financing (working knowledge of structured credit across various other asset classes is a plus)
• Degree from competitive undergraduate/graduate program
• Knowledge of loans operations and deal closings
• Presentation-creation skills in both PowerPoint and Excel
• Clear business writing & communication skills
• Experience reading, understanding, and negotiating loan documents
• General knowledge of credit underwriting and ability to interpret financial statements and IC memos
• Previous experience managing junior employees is a positive

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $200,000 per year commencement of employment for Associate, and between $225,000 and $250,000 per year commencement of employment for Vice President. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
