Division Profile:
The Anti-Money Laundering Risk (AML Risk) team is embedded within the Firm's business lines. It is responsible for identifying, assessing, and escalating potential money laundering and reputational risks associated with higher risk client types. The AML Risk team is considered to be in the First Line of defense and supports the onboarding, client due diligence, enhanced due diligence and negative news processes.
Position Summary:
The AML Risk Director - NNS will be responsible for executing risk-relevant activities related to AML. The AML Risk Director - NNS will identify and assess potential Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), money laundering and reputational risk matters identified through the execution of the Firm's NNS protocols for both new and existing customers. The Director will have responsibility for the identification and, as appropriate, escalation of negative news events or risks.
Key Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:
> Supervise a team of NNS professionals whose primary responsibilities include the following:
o Reviewing new and existing alerts on Morgan Stanley clients and related parties for potential matches to adverse media
o Performing research to confirm whether the alert is a positive match or false positive to the client, or whether the alert is deemed to be not risk-relevant, and document findings
> Escalate any possible true hits to the relevant onshore team
> Review the quality of work delivered by the team.
> Lead the team meetings.
> Having regular catch-ups with regional stakeholders.
> Drive a culture of efficiencies / productivity
Experience:
> 6-9 years of Corporate Intelligence, due diligence; experience in the financial services industry
> Bachelor's degree from an accredited college / university
> Experience managing a team of AML professionals
> Strong oral and written communication skills
> Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues across regions and Business Units
> Ability to research and resolve issues independently while working across teams to acquire information
Required Skills:
> Strong knowledge of Know Your Customer, Customer Identification Program and CDD requirements
> Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
> Strong work ethic with an ability to work both independently and with team members, under tight deadlines
> Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
> Ability to work in a matrixed organization, leveraging resources across the organization to complete deliverables
> Ability to handle highly confidential information professionally and with appropriate discretion
> Be capable of assessing and developing individual and team skills and providing timely constructive feedback
> Working knowledge of MS Office suite
