Department Profile
The cornerstone of Morgan Stanley's risk management philosophy is the execution of risk-adjusted returns through prudent risk-taking that protects Morgan Stanley's capital base and franchise. Risk Management protects the Firm from exposure to losses resulting from defaults by our lending and trading counterparties.
Credit Risk Management (CRM) is the independent risk management function that evaluates and monitors credit risk transactions. The department also assigns Internal Credit Ratings; establishes and manages credit risk limits in accordance with the risk tolerance established by the Board; monitors and reports on credit risk exposures on a regular basis to the Chief Risk Officer and senior management. CRM also interacts with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions.

Background on the Position
Credit Risk Management is looking to hire a Vice President of Quality Control supporting the Firm's Structured Products Secured Lending (aka Warehouse Lending). The business offers revolving credit or term facilities, highly structured, and secured by a wide range of financial assets. The Quality Control team is responsible for the due diligence and quality control review of assets purchased or pledged as collateral for transactions secured by residential real estate assets, corporate loans, and multiple ABS asset classes (consumer, transportation, etc.). The position also has responsibility for evaluating counterparty Quality Control processes in the Whole Loan Trading program.

The principal responsibilities of the role include the evaluation of new transactions, as well as the monitoring and maintenance of existing loans. Fulfillment of these responsibilities involves:

- Manage a team of Quality Control and Due Diligence reviewers in Dallas, TX
- Manage external Quality Control and Due Diligence vendors
- Manage and present Quality Control review at the loan and facility level as well as results of the Whole Loan Trading counterparty Quality Control evaluation.
- Select quality control loan samples based on risk parameters
- Liaise with diligence vendor and the client during the review process
- Review quality control/due diligence findings and work with the warehouse borrower/seller to remediate findings where possible
- Monitor, track and approve changes and amendments made to existing guidelines
- Create and maintain comparables of guideline parameters across counterparties by asset class
- Monitor ongoing changes to regulatory rules of an asset class such as Qualified Mortgage rules, critical consumer protection requirements and other regulatory market requirements
- Develop Quality Control processes for new asset classes, including assessment and approval of Quality Control and Due Diligence vendors Skills Required
- Experience in Quality Control and asset acquisition due diligence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrable track record of meeting time lines and managing multiple projects with limited oversight
- Strong team player able to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong in both Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- 7-10 years of relevant work experience in Credit Risk management
- Bachelors degree, Masters degree preferred

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $105,000 and $170,000 year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
