Firmwide Marketing ensures that Morgan Stanley gains the greatest value from its brand, the heart of the firm's franchise. The team manages every aspect of our brand worldwide, from corporate advertising campaigns and sponsorships to umbrella marketing messages, research, product naming, graphic standards, and publication systems. Marketing also provides strategic guidance and creative support for business units and internal groups seeking to harness the power of our brand. It helps transform our intellectual capital into client relationships by planning and executing hundreds of events and conferences each year and assessing their business impact.

About the Role
The role involves close collaboration with a variety of business stakeholders in Tokyo. To ensure alignment with global strategies, the candidate will also work extensively with Firmwide Marketing colleagues, including the Brand, Sponsorship, Digital Experience and Social Media teams in Hong Kong, London and New York, leveraging their expertise and resources as needed. This role dual reports to Firmwide Marketing in Hong Kong and Firm Management in Tokyo.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as primary point of contact for all marketing and brand related strategies, campaigns, program and initiatives with regional business stakeholders including Corporate Communications, Firm Management, Research, Investment Management, Talent Acquisition and Diversity in Tokyo.
- Cultivate relationships with internal business partners to understand the regional business strategy, objectives, and priorities; synthesize and relay this information to colleagues in Hong Kong, London and New York.
- Support the management, workflow, translation, content curation and promotion of Japanese language 'Thoughts on the Market' podcast.
- Manage the strategy, project development, governance, content creation and translation, tracking and website optimization of English and Japanese websites.
- Coordinate photoshoots, including drafting briefs, setting clear objectives, liaising with photographers and local colleagues to capture photography assets.
- Act as brand custodian to ensure all activations are consistent and reflect the brand strategy and guidelines. Be the on-the-ground expert in bridging the regional nuance with the global approach.
- Drive the brand tone of voice and visual identity for all communication platforms, campaigns, initiatives and flagship events; ensure consistent use across business areas.
- Manage the relationship with the Firm's internal creative studio in Tokyo to brief and deliver on-brand creative assets and guidelines and manage brand approvals.
- Manage requests for regional social media content and support the delivery of creative assets and copy for the Firm's global social media channels.
- Support management and activation of regional brand sponsorships ensuring they bring visibility to the brand across key audiences.
- Understand regional talent acquisition objectives and support marketing strategy and execution.
- Contribute to internal communications strategies relative to key campaigns to engage employees.
- Monitor the impact of all marketing initiatives and provide regular insights on their effectiveness to stakeholders.
- Work with international Firmwide Marketing colleagues to share learnings and best practices.
- Support with brand training for local colleagues to ensure they're up-to-speed with brand guidelines.
- Proactively keep up-to-speed with the firm's global brand and marketing strategy; act as a brand ambassador for Firmwide Marketing by keeping stakeholders informed.
Qualifications, Skills & Requirements
- Minimum of eight to ten years of experience in brand strategy, brand management, content creation and digital marketing.
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Financial Services or related field of study.
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Japanese; attention to detail is a must.
- Competency in content development and management including writing, editing and translation in both English and Japanese; manage freelance resources as needed.
- Experience in financial services is not a pre-requisite, but experience either working in large corporate environment or managing relationships with larges corporates on the agency side is required.
- Experience working in the Asia region, with an appreciation of cultural and regional nuances.
- Strong project management skills - able to manage multiple priorities, communicate progress and effectively track high quality deliverables to completion within tight deadlines.
- Ability to work tactically when required and take up ad-hoc requests and projects that come up.
- Able to build and nurture cross-functional, collaborative relationship locally and globally and influence stakeholders.
- Team player, who can think strategically, but also deliver and execute on a varied marketing plan.
- Comfortable working with PowerPoint and preparing presentations.
- Proactive and creative self-starter, with a 'can do' attitude and strong organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail in pursuit of thoroughness and accuracy.
