Morgan Stanley's Assurance and Legal Technology Department is responsible for delivering firmwide solutions focusing on:

  • Enable Internal Audit organization to evaluate the Firm's internal controls, identify & assess risks by providing a framework for documentation & periodic assessment of entities.
  • Facilitate and support the Non Financial Risk Second Line Testing Program: a centralized body of testing with subject matter specialists that are mobilized to execute testing, in service of achieving sufficient coverage of the firm's non-financial risk appetite.
  • Enable the firm's New Product Approval process designed to manage firm's new products and related risks on an aggregated basis at the firmwide level

We are looking for an Assurance Engineering Lead, who will drive the global technology strategy for the function and drive its execution. They will work closely with our key stakeholders on the Business and Technology sides to define and implement integrated solution for Assurance functions, while continuing to manage and support the existing legacy platforms until they are decommissioned.

Responsibilities include:
  • Driving an integrated scalable design that supports regional requirements while minimizing maintenance overhead.
  • Lead a team of technical leads, and developers in New York, Montreal, Mumbai, Bengaluru, providing architecture expertise, guidance, and mentorship to ensure successful delivery.
  • Managing stakeholder engagements and developing strong client relationships.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to provide technical leadership, risk evaluation and mitigation strategies, and high quality deliverables.
  • Acting as a liaison between stakeholders and internal teams, addressing concerns and facilitating effective communication.
  • Serving as a key advisor to senior management, providing insights and facilitating decision-making processes.
  • Leading the Assurance function and optimizing processes to improve overall efficiency.
  • Managing recruiting, talent retention, and career growth activities. Required Skills
  • 15+ years of architecture and design experience successfully implementing large scale global solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of software design principles, architectural patterns, and system integrations
  • Extensive hands-on experience with various technology platforms including Cloud.
  • Strong DevOps focus and experience with CI/CD tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze and break down complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with a certain level of ambiguity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.

Desired Skills:

  • Database modeling and design.
  • Data-centric mindset.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • Financial industry experience.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $160,000 and $210,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
