Morgan Stanley Community Affairs is responsible for the Firm's charitable efforts including: corporate and foundation giving, employee volunteering, giving and engagement, and communications and reporting around philanthropic efforts for the Firm.
Community Affairs is seeking a full time Communications Associate or Director with 2-7 years of communications experience in the nonprofit or corporate sector. This position manages the execution of the Department's communications as well as liaises internally with the broader communication functions across the Firm and externally with our nonprofit partners.
Reports to Executive Director, Community Affairs
Responsibilities:
- Create messaging to rally 80K+ employees worldwide around our core value to Give Back
- Execute and deliver Community Affairs and Morgan Stanley Foundation short and long-term communications strategies and plans for both annual and year-round programs
- Coordinate with internal communications, press officers, digital marketing and social media teams to create and execute multichannel communications plans for all Community Affairs and Morgan Stanley Foundation programs
- Serve as primary content provider for all internal and external communications and marketing programs; includes content for recruiting emails, intranet, external website, social media and major media outlets
- Develop creative concepts and execute communications plans for annual volunteer campaigns, in close partnership with regional Community Affairs counterparts; includes creation and distribution of all promotional materials - including emails, intranet articles, program websites and posters
- Maintain internal and external department messages and digital presence: produce, track, and maintain content according to channel best practices
- Drive storytelling of Firm's philanthropic/program/impact metrics for inclusion in various publications and reports
- Partner with Firm grantees to develop communications plans around grant and program updates and ensure preferred messages and collateral are being used on partner channels
- Work with business units across the Firm and global counterparts to ensure our internal and external strategies and channels are telling our integrated firm story
- Ensure governance and compliance in the communications review process

Qualifications:
- BA and 2-7 years of work experience; demonstrated philanthropy and corporate communications experience preferred
- Strong communicator, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to multi-task and deliver with minimal supervision
- Comfortable using data and metrics to tell a story
- A creative mindset with experience running multichannel communications and marketing campaigns
- High level of professionalism with experience working with multiple stakeholders
- Proactive, analytical, and customer service oriented with an ability to work across various corporate, nonprofit and public audiences
- Strong planning, administrative, and organizational skills; attention to detail a must
- Flexibility and ability to deal with changing priorities, manage time efficiently and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team -- making informed decisions in a complex and fast-paced environment
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
- Great interpersonal skills, sense of humor, and desire to learn are crucial

(Associate level - NYC) Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $80,000 and $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
(Director level - NYC) Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $155,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
