Role Description

The Data Strats team at Morgan Stanley Research is looking for highly capable Python coders with a background in quant or data science. The individual will be an integral part of a small team working directly with research analysts to create and implement quantitative projects across the department, including models and automated visualizations. To succeed in this role, you should be a self-starter, creative, and curious, with an interest in leveraging data and technology to develop innovative solutions. We're looking for someone with a unique blend of business, technical, and data skills who are looking to make an impact.

Responsibilities
• Work with research analysts and senior management to develop, institute, and maintain models and automated data processes
• Acquire, clean, maintain, and analyze data sets to support analyst models
• Help develop scalable data infrastructure, including visualization platforms
• Act as a Python expert within the department and create scalable Python libraries

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements
• 2+ years' experience with general-purpose programming in Python
• 2+ years' experience cleaning data using the Pandas and NumPy packages
• 2+ years' experience in a quantitative role, such as financial engineering or data science
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or related fields
• Experience with the request's library
• Demonstrated ability to QA and clean data
• Familiarity with higher-order analysis techniques, such as regressions or ML
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience with R, HTML, Java, MATLAB, Q, SQL, or Unix is a plus
