Accounts Payable Governance Lead

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Accounts Payable manager to oversee the Accounts Payable functions, which are primarily outsourced. The role is crucial in ensuring effective supervisory oversight of our outsourced supplier, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all Accounts Payable activities.

In the Corporate Services division, we provide solutions that enable Morgan Stanley's workforce, across our global workplace locations, to effectively and efficiently work in the service of our clients.

This is a Director level position within Accounts Payable & Receivables, which specializes in maintaining the Purchase Ledger function and ensuring the payment of all invoices and expense claims. Our responsibilities include ledger reconciliation, all invoice and expense claim queries, and accounts receivable.

What you'll do in the role:
-Provide supervisory oversight of the outsourced supplier.
-Ensure that the outsourced supplier is complying with the agreed upon service levels and performance standards.
-Conduct Daily/Weekly/Monthly performance reviews of the Procure to Pay (P2P) process.
-Review the Vendor Discount Program and various other ad hoc operational activities and projects.
-Maintaining and updating the risk profiles in the risk assessment systems and communicating changes of internal controls and policies to the outsourced provider.
-Monitor and manage the P2P operational reports and work with the business units and suppliers to resolve invoice and payment disputes or expedite payments.
-Responsible for maintaining and updating team process documentation & opportunities to enhance process efficiencies.
-Help with Indirect Tax compliance processes, preparing reports and supporting information required to support the Indirect Tax classification and journals.
-Approve payments in third-party banking platforms.
-Approve funding of Accounts Payable bank accounts.
-Monthly supervisory review to check authorized signatory requests are approved by the appropriate contacted and approval limits are updated within the system.
-Liaison with internal and external clients, communicate any process and regulatory changes that may impact the Accounts Payable functions. Governance Manager will have regular meetings/calls with key BU stakeholders.
-Manage 1099 and 1042-S processes, ensuring that vendors are coded correctly, and working with Tax Operations team to ensure files sent to the IRS are accurate.
-Support and drive process changes, initiate system upgrades. Process changes can be initiated by the vendor but needs to be reviewed and signoff by Governance team.

What you'll bring to the role:

-4-7 years of Accounts Payable experience
-Knowledge of general accounting principles
-Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
-Effective communicator with client facing experience. Good facilitator, confident in working with others at all levels.
-Very strong team player who is comfortable multi-tasking and works well under pressure.
-Ability & willingness to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic environment and with changing priorities.
-Strong PC skills in use of Microsoft products. i.e. Excel, PowerPoint
-Strong work ethic and drive and attention to details

Educational Requirements
-Bachelor's Degree preferably in Accounting or Finance
