Operations Intern (Mexico) - Job Description Summary:
Mexico Operations encompasses two functionally aligned organizations. The first, Trading & Client Operations, provides Operations functions in direct support of activity executed by Sales &Trading. The second, clearing and settlement Operations, provides operations functions in direct support for activity cleared by Morgan Stanley Mexico on behalf of our clients, Listed, and OTC products. The broad team partners closely with Sales and Trading to develop and implement new products and services as well as drive efficiency and reduce risk in the processes. At all times we are focused on delivering quality service to clients both internal and external. Operations partners closely with Shared Services and Banking Operations as well as Operations Risk & Control to deliver a connected 'front to back' view of operations to Sales and Trading. Main Responsabilities:
As an Intern of the team, the key responsibilities include:
- Following up that Fixed Income, Equity and Derivatives transactions are properly settled on contractual settlement date and in accordance with trade details as booked in the firm's system.
- Further, the intern is responsible for ensuring that firm's books and records matched vs the external agent banks and depository's positions in cash and securities.
- Investigate and resolve settlement exceptions.
- Investigate and resolve post settlement internal and external breaks.
- Prepare payment and trade instructions and release to custodian banks.
- Deliver quality service and solutions to their evolving business requirements.
- Escalate/report and mitigate risks associated with the settlement process.
- Prepare end of day regulatory reports.
Qualifications, Experience, Other Skills:
- Academic background in Business, Accounting, Economics, Law and Finance is highly preferred;
- Candidate must have 1.5 to 1 years of remaining college studies before graduating;
- Proven interest in financial markets;
- Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking) is required;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications.
