We're seeking interns to join our Legal and Compliance for the Spring Intern Program. This is a 6 months internship program designed as an opportunity to learn more about the important role that Legal and Compliance plays within the Firm. This structured program is designed to give interns insight into this division and an opportunity to develop and master the analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills needed to develop an exciting and rewarding career. The training will continue throughout the course of the program with structured learning sessions run by senior executives.
In the Legal & Compliance division, we protect the Firm's business by identifying risks and designing programs and policies that guide internal teams on ways to address or mitigate those outcomes.

What you'll do in the role:
- Development of risk models leveraging Machine learning and related quantitative techniques to improve surveillance and compliance monitoring.
- Statistical analysis of model thresholds, back testing and other sensitivity and productivity analyses on existing models
- Model documentation and facilitate model validations with model risk teams.
- Working with members of the Financial Crimes, Compliance, Legal and IT departments to identify, assess and manage risk by evaluating large data sets using various statistical tools.
- Developing and enhancing statistical methodologies and quantitative models to drive efficiency.
- Assisting in the creation of key risk and performance indicators in support of the oversight, monitoring and testing program
- Information security assessment for law firms and other vendors.
- Co-ordinate with legal and compliance employees for entitlement related reviews and associated procedures.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Bachelor's or master's degree from premier institutes in mathematics, statistics, physics, computational finance, computer science or other quantitative fields
- Strong problem solving and project management skills with the ability to work independently and multi-task to meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
- Experience in advanced statistical analysis techniques including multi-variable data analysis and predictive modeling techniques. Hands-on or theoretical knowledge of various Machine Learning algorithms and tools, e.g., XGBoost/LightGBM, Random Forests, support vector machines (SVMs), PCA, K-means etc.
- Ability to work with global, cross-functional teams • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in Distributed Computing & Cloud technologies (Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, Scala, Databricks, SparQL or other related technologies) to analyze and process large data sets and writing scalable and efficient code.
- Experience using Python for statistical analysis and modeling. Experience in PySpark is a plus.
- Well-versed in writing efficient, scalable and production quality code and understanding of programming best practices.
