Role and Responsibilities

Morgan Stanley's Financial Institutions Group ('FIG') covers a diverse set of clients including banks, insurance companies, financial technology ('FinTech') companies, asset managers, exchanges and hedge funds. Financials represents ~20% of the S&P 500 and is the largest sector in the global economy, accounting for almost one third of global GDP. As a result, the sector produces some of the largest and highest profile M&A and capital markets transactions. Morgan Stanley's Financial Institutions Group operates as a global team with approximately 170 Investment Bankers worldwide, allowing us to bring our clients global capabilities across the full spectrum of capital markets and M&A activities.

Roles and responsibilities of a Summer Associate vary but may include:
  • Managing and assisting in the execution of corporate finance transactions.
  • Performing financial analysis, strategic business analysis and detailed industry research.
  • Contributing to team discussions and client meetings.
  • Preparing and delivering client presentations in a clear and compelling manner.

Qualifications and Skills
  • You are an MBA or a J.D. student graduating between December 2025 and June 2026.
  • You have at least two to three years of work experience (preferred).
  • You can manage multiple projects, provide complicated financial analysis, and develop appropriate corporate finance solutions.
  • You have excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.

Expected base pay rate for the role will be $175,000 USD per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonuses and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
