As part of Moody's Investors Service (MIS), our Process Improvement and Data Management team within R&R leads the design and adoption of new processes and data workflows that enable digital transformation and scalability across the organization globally. The Vice President - Senior Data Manager will be a change agent for multi-year initiatives to transform Ratings and Research's (R&R) work processes to support digitization and adoption of generative AI technologies. These include the full range of workflow, rating and research, ESG and other activities. These initiatives are directly tied to firm-wide objectives and would involve regular exposure to senior leaders around the business and technology improvements.

We are hiring a VP - Senior Data Manager to design, develop and implement data improvement initiatives within the Structured Finance analytics workflow. They will work closely with cross-functional technology and business teams that adopt Agile operating methods. This role will be responsible for collecting, organizing, and interpreting data to drive strategic business decisions that support digitalisation. This involves tasks such as identifying key insights from data usage patterns, defining business data requirements, building data lineage maps and implementing data governance and quality assurance within databases. Through this role, they will also support data migration into a modern, cloud-based data infrastructure and establish a data storage plan.

The VP - Senior Data Management role will define, manage and govern the data used across Structure Finance analytic workflows. Core accountabilities include:

  • Data Lineage Mapping: Develop and maintain a comprehensive data lineage map to ensure traceability of data from source to report. This includes identifying key data elements, documenting their transformations, and maintaining the accuracy of the data lineage map over time.
  • Database Management: Oversee the management of databases led by technology teams, ensuring data integrity, security, and optimization. This includes understanding the structure, content, and inter-relationships of databases.
  • Data Governance: Implement data governance policies and procedures in line with the MIS Data Strategy to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance. This includes defining and managing data standards, data quality rules, and data stewardship activities in close partnership with Structured Finance Data & Analytics team.
  • Defining Business Data Requirements: Collaborate with lead analysts, product managers, process designers and technology teams to define business data requirements. This involves translating business needs into data specifications and guiding the product and development teams in understanding these requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and usage patterns that could be valuable for identify data use cases and critical business requirements.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present and explain complex data in an accessible way to non-technical stakeholders, enabling them to make data-driven decisions.
  • Change Leadership: Challenge the status quo and provide an innovative way of thinking for out-of-the-box data solutions, data performance metrics and new or third-party data sources.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of demonstrable experience in data management and data transformation roles
  • Hands-on experience using Master Data Management and Data Governance tools such as SQL, dBeaver, Access, Collibra
  • Proficient in Agile methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience curating, rationalizing and synthesizing a large databases, bringing order and rigor to unstructured data environments and enhancing accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience to redesign and improve data content and data lineages on aspects of an enterprise level project
  • Communicated to senior management frequently, including to simplify complex themes and present recommendations for consideration
  • Professional data management qualifications (degree, diploma, certificate, etc.) and process certification (i.e., Yellow/Greenbelt) are pluses
  • Experience synthesizing customer and/or user views into critical requirements that were successfully embedded in process flows or digital applications
  • Highly proficient communication skills to simplify complex themes and present recommendations to leadership
  • Ability to influence, navigate ambiguity and drive consensus to achieve objectives

The Department / Team

The R&R Process Improvement and Data Management team drives data and process design and change management for scalable digitisation across critical business initiatives including workflows, analytics and ESG services. The group works collectively with stakeholders in other lines of business, Product Management, User Experience designers, developers, control functions and others to document current state processes, define critical requirements for improvement, identify and map required data elements and lead simplification initiatives. The group works in an agile, product-centric operating model that delivers digital solutions and incremental improvements to process, data, and user tools.
