Senior Software Engineering Manager

A successful person in this role will have exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, be detail-oriented with a focus on quality results, and be ready to hit the ground running in a fast-paced & fun environment. They must be highly personable, outgoing, and able to positively and professionally represent Modern Animal in the veterinary community.

As Senior Manager on our Software Engineering team, your role will be to evaluate our organization's technology needs and develop software solutions accordingly. Your duties include overseeing junior software developers, improving software performance, and ensuring the smooth integration of new software.

What you’ll be working on: 

  • Take end-to-end ownership of team(s) projects
  • Mentor and guide engineers within your team(s) and occasionally cross team
  • Help your team to improve their performance, the quality of their work; make major design decisions
  • Work closely with Recruiting — in particular, interview candidates and co-own activities related to lead generation (e.g. tech talks and blog posts) and screening (HackerRank tests)
  • Communicate effectively with developers, product managers, customers, partners, and other leaders

Why you’d be a great fit (i.e. skills and qualifications):

  • Creating reliable, scalable, and high-performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building scalable software products
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 7+ years of experience as a software developer
  • 5+ years of experience managing people
  • Passion for people management and mentorship
  • Experience building and operating large scale, distributed systems

This role is a hybrid role which includes remote work and in person collaboration in our headquarters in Culver City, CA.

The pay range for this position is $131,000 - $205,000 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
