Real Estate Manager

We are hiring a Real Estate Manager to help us realize our mission to better the lives of animals by building a place that’s better for all of us who love them. Acting as a strategic thought leader to the organization, this role will be responsible for driving execution of our real estate strategy including market and site evaluation as well as end to end deal negotiation. Specifically, this person will be accountable for maintaining a robust real estate pipeline to best position Modern Animal for future growth.

This individual is extremely organized, curious, proactive, resourceful and efficient and operates with the highest level of professionalism. This individual is effective at influencing cross functionally as well as consultants to drive the best possible outcomes.

In this role, we are looking for someone who is passionate about pets and the people who love them, and is excited about rolling up their sleeves to bring our mission to life as we grow. This role is preferably based in Los Angeles and will require travel, local and national. This person is expected to travel at least 30% of the time.

This Role Will Oversee the Following:

  • New market and submarket assessments and the site selection process utilizing analytical frameworks, technology and community intelligence
  • Conduct market tours and select, manage and motivate brokers to secure new sites
  • Negotiation of LOI’s and leases while forming a deep understanding of what’s important to the company to drive the best economic outcomes
  • Site pack preparation and assisting with real estate committee meetings to review and approve sites
  • Continue building intelligence from internal and external data sources (including running an RFP and implementing a new site analytics platform)
  • Iteration of our market and site selection frameworks, incorporating customer feedback and clinic performance to help the business make smarter decisions
  • Grow and maintain real estate pipeline to match Modern Animal’s strategic priorities and growth targets
  • Cross functional collaboration with internal business stakeholders to ensure transparency of real estate progress across the organization and drive successful new clinic openings
  • Oversee lease administration alongside a third party and manage overall risk of our real estate portfolio

Why You’d Be a Great Fit:

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in commercial real estate leasing 
  • Track record of success in a high growth environment hitting measurable targets
  • Extensive retail and market knowledge in target growth markets
  • Independently strong broker, landlord and developer relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate leases and LOI’s who drives outcomes be being creative and solution orientated
  • Experience with scaling digitally orientated brands through brick and mortar
  • Technologically proficient in Google Suite Applications with the ability to learn and master project management software
  • Exceptional organization skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Operate with high emotional intelligence and exceptional listening / communication skills

The pay range for this position is $90,000 - $140,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and equity grant units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the California Pay Transparency Act. Base pay information is based on geographic location.
