AFL Bullpen Catcher and Tech Apprentice

This position will be responsible for Arizona Fall League game video, player development tech and function as a bullpen catcher during workouts and games.

Responsibilities:

  • Catch bullpens and side sessions
  • Manage game video and technology equipment
  • Serve as on-site video liaison for the AFL and its stakeholders
  • Track and update rosters and player information
  • Verify data accuracy and video quality
  • Provide daily updates to staff and content partners

Qualifications:

  • Professional or collegiate playing experience is a plus
  • Ability to catch bullpens of high-level pitchers
  • Proficiency with computers (Windows, Mac)
  • Understanding of baseball technology: Synergy, Hawkeye, Trackman, Rapsodo, etc.
  • Experience with video cameras, SD cards, tripods, and mounting clamps
  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Operational accuracy and attention to detail
  • Availability to work nights and weekends

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, walk long distances and/or climb up/down stairs; may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, sit and/or move/lift to 50lbs of equipment or supplies; use hands handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and focused vision. Medium strength is required.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time as well as bending, reaching, and throwing
  • Visual acuity to distinguish pitches
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoor

Timing and Compensation:

  • Position begins in late September and runs through mid-November.
  • Compensation includes:
    • competitive hourly rate
    • travel/housing allowance for out of state hires
  • Hires are responsible for securing housing and transportation
