Summary
The Americas Risk Management unit is responsible for monitoring and evaluating risks across a number of categories within Mizuho U.S Operations, keeping them contained within management's appetite by implementing policies and procedures to minimize losses and improve efficiency. Mizuho seeks a highly motivated individual to join our team as an AVP/VP, Risk Engineering group, reporting to the Head of Risk Engineering and working within the Risk Platform Management team.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of Risk Engineering to manage daily BAU functions, which include VaR and FRTB production support, VaR backtesting monitoring, VaR and Basel III data integrity monitoring, covered positions attestations, regulatory submissions, and maintaining documentation of all production issues.
- Provide strategic direction for designing and building out a comprehensive suite of data completeness checks across financial risk stripes.
- Coordinate the resolution of daily BAU production issues and regularly interface with risk managers to develop strategic solutions.
- Serve as a key stakeholder in the implementation of projects and migrations to new risk systems.
- Regularly evaluate system workflows and amendment processes to ensure the consistency and accuracy of risk reporting.

Qualifications
- 5-7 years of experience in Risk Management or Risk Production Support with demonstrable experience in managing data quality and governance.
- Proven ability to think strategically and express actionable curiosity; more specifically, can analyze a multi-faceting problem and design more effective and elegant solutions.
- Exceptional SQL and Python skills.
- Excellent project management skills; detail-oriented with crisp documentation skills.
- Strong communication skills, with experience working cross-functionally with Risk Managers, Product Control, and IT.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding and willingness to learn about financial markets/instruments, risk sensitivities, and capital calculations.
The expected base salary ranges from $127,500 - $180,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
