Job Summary and Qualifications

Seeking a Nurse Manager of Throughput for Methodist Hospital who coordinates patient flow through the hospital and clinical coordination of care across the continuum. Responsibilities will include length of stay (LOS) and resource reduction strategies, capitalizing on facility best practices, reviewing metrics of pending and confirmed discharge times for inpatient nursing units, coordinating and collaborating with the ED director and for impacting ED metrics. Provide facility specific LOS analysis and making recommendations for process improvement. The manager will also ensure that improvement opportunities are appropriately channeled to effect change, intervene with the hospitalists to address and resolve issues related to facility utilization and patient flow process and facilitate strong working relationships between Patient Placement Center, inpatient units and the hospital case management and admitting departments to promote effective utilization management through coordination of efforts involving patient flow. What You Will Do In Your Role:

• Evaluation and implementation of patient flow to ensure maximization of the hospital resources.
• Continually evaluate, monitor and improve the patient throughput metrics as it relates, resource management, discharge planning, and admission process.
• Facilitates the MSTH Throughput Team by planning and forecasting all patient flow activities.
• Collaborate with nurse staffing office, nurse leadership and Nursing Admin for balancing bed utilization with staffing needs.
• Establish patient flow goals in coordination with hospital executive management and monitor progress toward the goals through tracking tools such as a dashboard. Directs processes to assess, improve and maintain the quality of patient care according to the hospital plan for quality improvement.
• Coordinate Medical Center Patient Flow responsibilities with the Case Management Director for Medical Center Adult Services and the division Revenue Integrity Department Director to ensure all patient flow needs of the Medical Center are met and to ensure similar policies and procedures are in place, as applicable.
• Serve as the educational leader providing feedback to gaps in effective patient flow metrics to physicians and Methodist Healthcare System/MSTH employees as it relates to overarching throughput goals. Works collaboratively with physicians.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Five years related work experience

Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

Preferred:

• Master’s Degree in nursing or related field

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations

• Must have current RN license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas.
