THE ROLE
Based in Chicago and part of the Materials Management team, this role is responsible for partnering with the supply chain planning team to develop the capacity plans and material requirements for the Southside Soapbox, our in-house manufacturing facility. The Materials Planning Manager will be responsible for managing all inventory to consistent and best-in-class levels while identifying areas of opportunities related to cost, order quantities and service. The ideal candidate will be a dedicated team player, self-motivator, great communicator with a focus on improving process.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Materials Planning Manager will:
- Lead and participate on team projects to solve problems and improve processes and procedures that positively impact safety, operational efficiency, quality and work environment.
- Enhance current ordering process of raw and packing materials to avoid material shortages and manage obsolete material within the South Side Soapbox.
- Own the capacity of the production plan and run strategy documentation while working closely with operations, new product development, procurement and engineering.
- Leverage available systems (i.e. SAP, Syspro) to create and release purchase orders for all packing and raw materials needed to support scheduled production. Manage vendor POs for timely delivery of material to the South side soapbox.
- Responsible for production planning while working closely with supply chain planning to understand demand forecast drivers while providing monthly metrics to the S&OP process.
- Manage materials inventory levels within the soapbox to ensure material availability, safety stock, and floor footprint; with focus on increasing inventory accuracy through cycle count process while identifying root causes + making improvements in discrepancies.

EXPERIENCE:
- 5+ years of experience required in relevant supply chain operations, with working knowledge of material planning or experience a plus
- Knowledge of Material Management systems such as SAP and Syspro
- Excellent collaboration / customer service skills
- Creative problem-solver, capable of driving solutions to challenging opportunities
- Communicates well at all levels of the organization
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead a team focused effort
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities required by the department workload
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel and Outlook
- Proactive approach and work ethic appropriate for a fast-paced, team-oriented, growing company
- Possess that certain "something" that makes us better
- Sense of humor, a positive outlook with a "can-do" attitude!
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain or a Management related field
