Meta is excited to announce an opportunity for a Visiting Researcher position through a short-term contract, inviting distinguished professionals to join our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) team. This research organization is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence by advancing the state-of-the-art in this rapidly evolving field. This role offers a unique chance to collaborate with leading researchers and make significant contributions to the future of AI.

Visiting Researcher, Fundamental AI Research - Robotics Responsibilities:

  • Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines.
  • Perform research that enables physical agents and robots to interact with the world and learn to improve via those interactions.
  • Work towards long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying immediate milestones.
  • Initiate research projects within a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional partners.
  • Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing high-quality publications.
  • Open source high-quality code and produce reproducible research.
  • Using expertise in the domains of robotics and embodied AI, demonstrate a profound interest in pioneering new scientific discoveries that deepen our understanding of intelligence.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A PhD degree in AI, computer science, robotics, or related technical fields.
  • 4+ years of work experience in a university, industry, or government lab, in a role with primary emphasis on AI research.
  • Research background in robotics, computer vision, machine learning, or related areas.
  • Proven track record of recent and consistent publications reflecting expertise in the field.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Research and engineering experience demonstrated via publications, grants, fellowships, patents, work experience, open source code, and / or coding competitions.
  • Publications at peer-reviewed conferences, such as CoRL, RSS, ICRA, ICLR, NeuRIPS, CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, or other similar venues.
  • Experience in solving complex problems, proposing novel solutions, and comparing alternative approaches, trade-offs, and diverse points of view.
  • Experience in leading, planning and coordinating long-term research projects in a team environment.
  • Experience communicating research findings to public audiences of peers.
  • Interested in developing cutting-edge technologies that contribute to the realization of advanced machine intelligence.

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
