The Sensors and Systems Research (SSR) group is currently searching for a full-time SoC Systems Architect to pioneer, develop, and prototype innovative intelligent sensing systems and prototypes. This role requires a proven track record in advancing state-of-the-art efficient SoC architecture, strong systems skills, prior experience driving architecture convergence on complex consumer electronics products, and skills in software/hardware co-design for distributed ML, generative AI workload. This role presents a unique opportunity to drive innovation at the forefront of the AR/VR technology revolution while collaborating with a diverse group of cross-disciplinary experts to create state-of-the-art, human-oriented sensing and computing solutions.

System-on-chip (SoC) Systems Architect Responsibilities:
  • Own new sensor system prototype definition, power optimization modeling, and use case data flow and latency analysis.
  • Define system power and latency requirements for subsystem teams and drive cross-functional workstream prioritization.
  • Work with product management, engineering teams, research scientists across HW, SW, and FW and connect the E2E technical stack and determine prototype feature sets.
  • Define hardware/software architecture for state-of-the-art Always-On AI wearable research systems based on SSR sensor technologies.
  • Collaborate with experts in different fields to make architectural tradeoffs.
  • Communicate technology and system strategy effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Help define long-term technology roadmap and possible product interception.
  • Foster collaboration with a diverse teams and research pillars including Optics, Silicon Technology, Sensors, System Architecture, Security, and ML domain experts, actively engaging and collaborating.
  • Plan and execute cutting-edge research and prototyping with AR/VR systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of SoC architecture experience in electrical, computer engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with system architecture across electrical, firmware, software, audio, silicon, and thermal engineering.
  • Experience in SoC architecture, including heterogeneous compute, NoC/interconnect, multi-die configurations, cache hierarchies, shared memory, coherency, generative AI workloads, security, as well as code generators, Linux drivers, and web service standards.
  • Experience in Communication experience working with Product Managers and other hardware/software cross-functional teams.
  • Experience modeling system power and using those models, inform trade-offs against key architectural decisions (e.g. sensor features, battery life, thermals, silicon roadmaps, power load profiles).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Understanding of memory subsystems including volatile memory and memory management and their impacts on overall system performance.
  • Experience with AR/VR or systems aimed at capturing/processing/delivering audio, visual, IMU or other positional data streams.
  • Experience creating system models to analyze system compute, latency, and communication interface bandwidths.
  • Working knowledge or experience in imaging and audio interfaces, optical, sensors, modules, ISP and algorithm fundamentals, computer vision and machine learning.

$212,000/year to $291,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
