System Operations Engineer

The System Operations Engineer will join a team delivering a step-change in modernizing our use of systems for Meta's $8 billion+ global Design global Design, Construction, and Engineering organization, working closely with business leaders to understand the needs and to develop the strategy and standards required to successfully improve our business processes through better, more thoughtful, and more integrated use of tooling. This position is responsible for supporting the 5-7 year product lifecycle across a variety of systems, ensuring our tools are implemented across multi-billion-dollar construction sites in a way that enables faster delivery of data center capacity. The Systems Operations Engineer will have a demonstrated knowledge of leading commercial-off-the-shelf tools used in the construction industry and knows how to set them up so Meta can get the project insights we need while not slowing field teams down, putting the field user's experience at the core of their focus and success criteria. At a critical juncture in the Artificial Intelligence arms race, this role will be pivotal in enabling faster delivery of data center projects through their technical capability, directional accuracy, and capability to influence successful outcomes across a global team comprised of Meta and its wide range of external construction and consulting partners.

System Operations Engineer Responsibilities:
  • "Builds with the end in mind" as we deploy our next generation systems for construction management, quality, design, cost, and schedule. Takes a ownership to ensure that systems are configured in a way that is scalable, operable and maintainable, influencing system go-live decisions as the system administrator
  • Build and optimize processes and structure that reduces the admin/overhead required to support the systems we have in place over time, improving productivity for end-users through understanding business needs and introducing enterprise technology to the end-user proactively
  • Work effectively and with a high degree of independence across Design, Engineering, and Construction pillars to gain alignment, buy-in, and influence proper system use across a wide range of internal and external partners
  • Leverages data and backend systems to monitor and improve live system health using a metric-based approach, enabling the core team to be proactive in ensuring reliability for end-users. Analyzes and de-risks volume of requests by system type, project workload and stakeholder requirements to ensure business continuity
  • Support of Program Manager -led projects, system deployments & improvements to meet the needs of our Design, Engineering & Delivery programs
  • Maintaining technical documentation related to the use and administration of enterprise systems and revision-controlling of program-based templates and custom business processes built within systems
  • Triage and resolve technical issues through root-cause analysis, administrative tooling, and technical networks
  • Administer/support user access & modification requests for active systems (a.k.a. "Platform Services")
  • Shared accountability over the solicitation & timely execution of contracts & vendor performance for Platform Services
  • Manage vendor relationships with supported systems
  • manages vendor deliverables related to systems
  • Deploy sustainable and effective training models for user onboarding/offboarding
  • Support system auditing for proper use in service of pragmatic standardization to enable business metrics and key performance indicators as needed
  • Coordinate application performance issues with enterprise teams and vendor teams to improve infrastructure configuration
  • Influence enterprise vendor product roadmaps to align with end-user requests
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BS or an equivalent degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Construction Management, or relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of overall technical experience working with Technical Program Managers, large-scale construction/delivery teams, or similar roles delivering robust tooling used by construction teams on projects from conception through implementation
  • Proven success in deploying and implementing design/construction systems using business applications (such as Autodesk Construction Cloud, Oracle Unifier, Primavera P6, Procore, Google AppSheets, and other similar tools.)
  • Proven success with various communication strategies, presentations, and analytical skills
  • Proven success with program management techniques
  • Proven success collaborating with cross-functional partners across a global organization
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Significant experience with Building Information Modeling (ex: Autodesk ACC, Autodesk APS, etc.) or Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) automation
  • Experience in Data Center Construction industry
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Six Sigma Certification
  • Master's Degree in Business, Computer Science, or similar
  • Extensive experience collaborating with a wide range of design, construction, and consulting professionals with demonstrated successful outcomes

$91,000/year to $143,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
