The Host Networking team is responsible for all aspects of networking specific to servers including networking applications, network transport and analytics and NICs. The team is increasingly focused on building high performance network solutions for our AI workloads.We are looking for a manager who will lead the group developing network drivers and firmware for networking components/ASICs purpose built for AI workloads.Generally, we embrace entrepreneurs as well as those who come from more established organizations. Software Engineering Managers at Meta have progressive technical experience and demonstrated progression in management responsibility. You have also kept up your coding skills and bring an unwavering passion for managing the dynamics of a fast-paced environment.The AI Transport group within Host Networking is responsible for design and development of software that transports AI workloads between compute nodes within the DC. This also includes data path software on embedded systems, control software on Linux stack and additionally addressing congestion and typical network behavior in a highly scaled DC environment. Software Engineering Manager for this team is expected to bring technical expertise in supporting the team in design and development activities, project management skills to effectively and efficiently drive associated programs and people management skills to support members of this team and collaborate with cross-functional partners.

Software Engineering Manager, AI Transport Responsibilities:
  • Highly technical manager with deep experience in networking, linux kernel, driver or firmware
  • Hold your own in technical discussions, be a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence
  • Help define and drive regular development of an aggressive technical roadmap to meet the needs of the team, and partner teams
  • Operate in a rapidly evolving environment, adapting quickly to new information and re-prioritizing as needed
  • Manage engineers working to build, scale, deploy and support network systems for our global network infrastructure
  • Help engineers develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles
  • Partner closely with Hardware, Facebook Family of Apps, Facebook Infrastructure Services, Datacenter, Backbone, and Edge network engineering teams
  • Interact with external partners as needed in resolving dependencies associated with objectives
  • Assess employee performance frequently, address under-performance, and recognize and promote excellent performance
  • Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and onboarding new employees
  • Communicate cross-functionally and drive engineering efforts
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience managing a networking-related software engineering team
  • Experience in writing Driver and or Firmware code for networking or storage applications
  • Experience with software development for Distributed and Embedded systems
  • Experience with RDMA, RoCE-v2, NCCL and other High Performance Computing Networking solutions
  • Knowledge of networking, linux kernel, TCP stack and distributed systems
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting and managing technical teams, including performance management and managing engineers
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Communications skills and detail-oriented
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with GPU/TPU network in a DC environment
  • Experience driving Congestion Control programs in large scale networks

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
