FBOSS stands for Facebook Open Switching System. It is the software stack powering the network switches in Meta's data centers across the world. We work on some of the most critical infrastructure challenges at Meta. Our current focus is building networking switch platforms for our AI clusters that power large language models (LLM) for Generative AI, Recommendation engine, and Metaverse.
Software Engineer - FBOSS (Facebook Open Switching System) Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support services to manage various functions of datacenter network switches (platform, ports, switching, QoS, config-mgmt, telemetry and monitoring).
- Develop and support test suites for continuous integration
- Engage with partner teams to align on goals, strategies, and roadmaps
- Participate in oncall rotations for operational support

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in C/C++ and Python
- 7+ years of experience with network devices (routers, switches)
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
- Experience with switching, routing, QoS, ACLs, Telemetry and monitoring
- Experience with services to manage Layer1 networking components (ports, transceivers, DACs, Gearboxes, External-PHYs etc)
- Experience with Platform services (program, control, and monitor Optics, PHY, FPGAs, sensors, fan control, power etc), BSP/Board Support Package, Operating Systems, Kernel, Bootloader, Power Management, RTOS, Linux.
- Experience with build systems, CI frameworks, and open-source software

$85.10/hour to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
