RL Embedded BSP Engineering Manager

The MROS (Mixed Reality Operating system) Base platform team brings new platforms and SoCs to life. This team will partner with Silicon and Electrical in influencing and designing our next generation VR devices using operating systems based on Android. This team is responsible for bringing up the core system devices and OS features for the platforms based on Qualcomm for MR (Mixed Reality) and also sustain the existing MR platforms, build power and thermal management controls, integrate and build the connectivity stack on our devices.

RL Embedded BSP Engineering Manager Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead teams to deliver BSPs for Mixed Reality products
  • Integrate, customize, optimize BSP across Reality Labs technology verticals
  • Collaborate across electrical, silicon, software, user experience, and firmware teams to define and build software components
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to team members and project peers
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams
  • Build development processes that allow for rapid development and experimentation while maintaining a high quality product.
  • Understand and drive implementation of quality software development practices across teams and projects.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS or BS in Computer Science or Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent
  • Working experience with using standard software development frameworks (Agile, Kanban, XP)
  • Experience working with remote teams.
  • 10+ years expertise in reviewing schematics, developing and shipping BSPs (Board support packages) for consumer electronics products
  • 5+ years of experience in directly managing and leading teams.
  • Experience building a team to scale across multiple products.
  • Experience working with silicon vendor provided packages and solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with BSP development on Linux or Android
  • Specialized experience in two or more of the following areas: BSP/Board Support Package, Kernel, Bootloader, Power Management, Linux/Android bringup
  • Hands-on coding experience with peripherals such as USB, SPI, MIPI CSI/DSI, I2C, UART, GPIO etc.

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
