We are currently seeking a Technical Program Manager for the Optics, Photonics, and Light Systems team who will work with a world-class group of researchers and engineers. You will be faced with hard and complex problems. You will establish requirements with internal and external customers, manage program schedules, identify risks and associated mitigation plans, coordinate with other internal teams, and clearly communicate to program stakeholders. We're seeking a technical program manager who possesses a good technical foundation and excel at motivating and empowering diverse teams. Successful candidates will be skilled at building collaborative relationships across functions, fostering inclusive environments, and driving efficient processes that enable seamless program execution in our fast-paced, innovative setting.

Research Technical Program Manager - Optics Responsibilities:
- Work with research, engineering, and business teams to define roadmaps, program milestones and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain an overall program schedule based on feedback from multiple work streams such as requirements, technical challenges, available resources, and business needs.
- Partner with technical leads to establish program strategy, prioritization and to deliver against OKRs.
- Identify resources needed and work closely with the team leads to maintain full visibility of multiple projects, ensuring resource gaps are addressed efficiently.
- Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues and drive solutions to fix them and manage both technical and programmatic risks.
- Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and research development processes in a quickly-changing and broad environment.
- Engage with cross-functional and external teams to identify constraints, dependencies, and risks/issues, and to recommend action plans to address them.
- Develop and coordinate communication between internal and external teams and partners.
- Report program status, issues, challenges and help needed with all stakeholders.
- Building teams, development processes, best practices, and supporting tools to support a growing organization.
- Travel up to 25% of the time.
- BS in Display, Systems Engineering, Imaging Science, Electronics, Optics, or Physics or equivalent experience
- Project management, leadership, dependency management and cross-group technical collaboration experience.
- Must be relatively versed in VR or AR display technology trends.
- Knowledge of display and/or optics development including manufacturing processes.
- Organizational experience, including managing cross-team budgets and headcount.
- Experience managing external technical engagements with industry and academia.
- Experience with driving programs in a research environment.
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager.
- Graduate degree in an engineering or scientific field related to display/optics/imaging systems.
- Experience in project management on optics and display development especially in the consumer market.
- Multi-team/geographically dispersed team management experience.
- Track record of transitioning research or emerging technologies into consumer products.
- Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of researchers, software engineers and hardware engineers.
- Knowledge in waveguides is a plus.

$134,000/year to $196,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
