The potential for AR/VR to change the way we interact with each other is immense. By developing new hardware and software products that can understand human appearance, movement, and expression, we aim to make it possible for people to feel like they are directly in front of each other, even if they are separated by vast distances.Our goal is to enable a metaverse where people can share virtual experiences that interact seamlessly with the real world. To achieve this, our XR Codec Interactions and Avatars organization is focused on developing technologies that enhance social presence and interaction through Codec Avatars and other advanced XR technologies. Your job will involve projects ranging from research to product development. You will contribute to incubating the world's largest human ground truth datasets to empower the social presence and interaction technology. To be successful in this role, you should have a basic understanding of the relevant technologies, be proactive to learn through the process and grow with the team.

Research Engineer - Computer Vision Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement algorithms in the areas of machine intelligence.
  • Integrate foundation models into data pipelines and deliver the ground truth datasets.
  • Evaluate ground truth data qualities.
  • Participate in both production and innovative research in computer vision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional software, research and hardware teams to incorporate their innovations and vice versa.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Masters in Computer Science or related field with a specialization in Computer Vision or Machine Learning. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • Experience developing and designing computer vision technologies and systems.
  • Experience developing software in Python.
  • Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in shipping machine learning products to customers.
  • Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and wide-ranging points of view to determine a path forward.
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by first-authored publications in top conferences like CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICASSP, INTERSPEECH etc. or through contributions to industrial applications.

$56.25/hour to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
