Meta seeks a highly motivated lawyer to join Meta's EMEA Disputes Regulatory team. You will work within the EMEA wide regulatory litigation team on high-profile, precedent-setting regulatory investigations and related litigation in the European courts focusing on privacy laws, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technology-related laws in Europe. The role requires experience in litigation before the EU General Court and CJEU, diligence, capacity to manage a varied workload, good judgment and a keen interest in learning about new technologies and developing areas of law. Regulatory Litigation Counsel, EMEA Disputes Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and support on regulatory investigations and resulting litigation in cases before European courts, including the CJEU and General Court, with a focus on privacy laws, artificial intelligence, and other emerging laws affecting the technology sector.
  • Support the collection and production of accurate information in external submissions and disclosures.
  • Effectively collaborate with outside counsel on regulatory and litigation matters
  • Partner and coordinate with key internal stakeholders such as other legal teams, and public policy, communications, business and product teams
  • Engage proactively in cross functional teams to provide internal legal advice, with a particular focus on assessing and mitigating regulatory and litigation risk
  • Help shape process changes, being used to work cross functionally with different teams, and actively looking for opportunities to develop and improve processes and know-how
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable.
  • Qualified lawyer who is authorised to practice law in a European country
  • 4+ years litigation experience, including experience working on matters before European higher and/or appellate courts. If you are in private practice, you should work in a regulatory or litigation department. If you are an in-house lawyer you should work on regulatory investigations or litigation as a core part of your role
  • Familiarity with existing and emerging laws and regulation affecting the technology sector
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in civil law jurisdictions
  • Experience in litigation before the CJEU (Court of Justice of the European Union) or General Court
  • Experience in European privacy laws (e.g., General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)) and technology related laws, and regulatory enforcement matters in UK/EU
  • Understanding of the fundamental legal issues impacting the litigation and regulatory enforcement environment affecting the technology sector
  • French speaker, as working language of EU Courts
