Public Policy Manager, WA and Messaging

The Latin America Public Policy team is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented professional to join us as a Public Policy Manager, and support work related to private messaging products, including WhatsApp, in the region, helping to shape issues and product agendas, collaborating closely with internal teams, to advise on the public policy implications of products, working with a closely coordinated and cross-functional global team.The role requires significant experience either working with or in government, politics, regulatory agencies or think tanks, as well as an ability to grasp complex technical and policy issues.

Public Policy Manager, WA and Messaging Responsibilities:

  • Advise product and business teams on regional public policy matters to guide development of products, services and policies
  • Support teams in messaging related issues during electoral periods.
  • Identify, monitor, and analyze current and emerging policy issues affecting private messaging in the LATAM region.
  • Support internal team planning process.
  • Work internally to obtain general narratives, and adapt them to regional teams' needs, focused on local policy engagements.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in law, political science, international affairs, or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in public policy, advocacy, or government affairs
  • Deep expertise in policy issues and product counseling
  • Fluent English
  • Experience working in the technology industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in law, political science, international affairs, data science or similar
  • Experience in partnerships with international organizations.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese
  • Familiarity with regional regulatory frameworks and policy trends in Latin America regarding WhatsApp and Messaging
