PCB Layout Engineer - Reality Labs Research

At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences.This role requires collaboration with engineers and multiple project team members in the design and development of detailed layouts utilizing multiple types of PCBs; rigid, FPC, rigid-FPC, aluminum backing, etc. Your responsibilities include performing complex CAD and CAE tasks requiring extensive knowledge of software capabilities, proposing PCB design trade-offs, solving electrical design, packaging, and manufacturing issues. You will act as a liaison between RL-R Hardware and the PCB Fab/Assembly vendors to determine stack-ups, design constraints, new technologies, and solve any manufacturing concerns.

PCB Layout Engineer - Reality Labs Research Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Hardware Engineering team(s) to provide Schematic and PCB board designs. Layouts range from simple to complex, multi-layer printed circuit boards containing analog, digital, RF, and power components.
  • Collaborate with PCB vendors to select proper materials, stack-ups, obtain impedance specifications, DFX rulesets, assembly requirements, and resolve any manufacturing related issues.
  • Create and maintain Schematic symbols and PCB footprints among multiple libraries.
  • Work closely with ECAD librarian(s) on maintaining and expanding the company-wide library.
  • PCB Liaison for internal team(s) under RL Research for system administration, data management, process improvement, and ensuring compliance.
  • Create and manage PCB documentation including fabrication and assembly packages.
  • Work with the document control department to release fab and assembly packages into the company-wide PLM system.
  • Collaborate in a team environment across engineering disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of PCB Design experience using Altium and/or Cadence/Allegro.
  • Knowledge of IPC, JEDEC, IEEE, and other electronic standards.
  • Experience in creating schematic symbols and PCB footprints in libraries.
  • Experience interpreting datasheets and schematics to generate netlists and proper constraints in the layout design.
  • Experience in designing multiple PCB types: HDI Design, Rigid, Rigid-FPC, and FPC.
  • Experience in designing high speed differential circuits, power circuits, analog and RF circuits.
  • Experience in PCB layout design constraints for mixed/RF signal, signal impedance control, memory interfaces, power distribution, heat dissipation, and optimization for EMI performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 10+ years' experience of PCB layout design using Altium or Cadence/Allegro.
  • Experience with SVN, GIT, Perforce, or similar version control systems.
  • Experience with Altium Enterprise/Concord Pro or similar library management systems.
  • Proven track record to design & manage all aspects of the printed board design.

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
