At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences.We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience developing and shipping consumer electronics (ideally wearables) while considering a broad range of business and hardware requirements including materials, manufacturability, form factor, ergonomics, and integration of technologies on softgoods substrates. We are specifically looking for a history partnering with suppliers in Asia to create novel devices.
Mechanical Engineer (R&D) Responsibilities:
- Work across the full product development cycle to deliver mechanical component/subsystem designs from concept to production.
- Manage suppliers for prototypes and production of parts.
- Manage the schedule of your parts in concert with the full program schedule
- Partner with a cross-functional team of engineers and researchers.
- Work with first and third party partners to advance the maturity of component technology.

- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience developing high-volume consumer products with stringent SWaP-C constraints in such as wearables, mobile devices, or similar.
- 3+ years of experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX, Solidworks, or similar).
- Experience working cross functionally to rapidly prototyping new concepts.
- Experience designing for CNC, injection molding, die cutting, lamination.
- Experience developing wearable devices using elastomers and textiles.
- Experience integrating haptic components into device.
- Project management experience.
- Experience managing component vendors.
- Experience planning and executing DOEs.
