Meta's RL Metaverse Hardware group is seeking an experienced and highly skilled candidate to join our Mechanical Design Verification Engineering team. They will apply practical understanding of mechanical measurement systems, ergonomics principles, and experimental data analysis to advance description and measurement of headset ergonomic performance. Their learning and collaboration will accelerate development of the most comfortable Meta Quest headsets ever.
Mechanical Design Verification Engineer - MR Ergonomics Responsibilities:
- Develop equipment, methods, and metrics to evaluate ergonomic performance of VR headset mechanical interfaces
- Collaborate with diverse disciplines to transform customer perceptions into design specifications
- Develop and implement test capabilities and procedures to verify the ergonomic performance of VR headsets
- Analyze test data, producing clear and actionable visualizations of results and their meaning
- Review analysis results with peers, design engineers and cross-functional partners
- Correlate measurement data with results of user studies to identify key design objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and research, to identify and address design issues and drive opportunities for improvement

- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design verification/validation or related field
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in mechanical, ergonomics, or human factors engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Demonstrated experience successfully developing and executing detailed test methods
- Demonstrated application of mechanical engineering fundamentals and ergonomics principles
- Experience with communication skills and collaboration to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Experience with analytical, problem solving, and engineering design
- Demonstrated balance of critical thinking skills with practical results
- Experience with statistical analysis and designed experiments
- Experience making sketches, perform common calculations, and generate measurement concepts
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with human factors and ergonomics principles, such as anthropometry and biomechanics
- Experience with sensors, data acquisition (DAQ), and mechatronics
- Familiarity with user research methods and techniques, including user testing and surveys
- Experience with consumer electronics or wearable products
- Experience with virtual reality or augmented reality technologies

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
