Meta seeks an experienced attorney to join the Reality Labs legal team supporting its Devices organization. You will provide practical legal guidance on various legal, product, and business strategies supporting the development and delivery to market of augmented, virtual and mixed reality products. You will work with both (a) business teams in Logistics, Service Operations, International Expansion, Product, and other Operations functions and (b) cross-functional partners in Compliance, Trade, Finance, and Tax. In addition you will manage the drafting and negotiating of a wide variety of vendor and partner agreements.
Lead Counsel, Reality Labs Responsibilities:
- Advise on the development of policies and programs and the negotiation of vendor agreements for logistics, transportation and customs services
- customer support programs around warranties, customer self-help features, and customer value-add programs
- and other operations activities
- Identify and advise on legal requirements for expansion of sales and operations to new global markets and coordinate legal workstreams from the assessment phase through full new market launch
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners and subject matter experts both within Meta's legal department (such as privacy, compliance, tax, intellectual property, and competition) and across the business (such as policy, communications, security and operations) to analyze and communicate legal risks
- Lead legal risk assessments, escalations and consensus building and drive coordination with legal and business stakeholders on key Reality Labs initiatives
- Work directly with business and technical teams to build your product and operations knowledge and use that knowledge to provide frontline legal and business advice regarding Reality Labs products and strategies
- Build constructive and influential relationships with executives, product/operations teams, and peers across the Meta organization
- Identify opportunities for and implement process improvements to leverage efficiencies

- J.D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
- 5+ years combined law firm and in-house experience
- Demonstrated experience working under own initiative, seeking feedback and input where appropriate, and influencing team and business goals and strategy
- Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable.
- Experience advising in at least two of the following areas: (a) global logistics teams on vendor, trade and operations issues, (b) post-sales operations teams on complying with global consumer protection laws, handling and resolving customer claims and the development of new customer value-add programs like extended warranties and self-help tools, and/or (c) operations teams on expanding sales, logistics, and support activities into new markets and countries
- Prior experience with technology and/or consumer hardware companies
- Experience managing legal risks across multiple jurisdictions across the globe

$167,000/year to $233,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
