Meta seeks an experienced transactional lawyer to serve as lead counsel supporting media initiatives across Meta's family of apps (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Threads). You will work with partnerships and business development teams to structure, draft, and negotiate contracts with media companies, creators, and talent for the distribution and promotion of premium content across Meta's video surfaces. You will also advise clients on the various legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to commercial transactions and business operations. This is a full-time position.
Lead Counsel, Partnerships Responsibilities:
- Contract review, drafting, negotiation and advisory responsibilities for Meta's partnerships, business development, and content teams
- Work collaboratively across business functions to gather inputs, drive alignment, and develop contract templates and playbooks to coincide with go-to-market plans for new product initiatives
- Provide business and legal advice to develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to strengthening Meta's relationships with key partners
- Manage and resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships
- Prioritize and manage simultaneous legal matters under tight timelines.
- Respond to rapid changes in business direction, and flex to support new product initiatives and technologies without much precedent
- Work extended hours when necessary to complete projects in a timely fashion
- Some travel, domestic and international, may be required

- J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
- 5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney, including in-house experience with a media, internet or technology company, or comparable experience in a media-focused practice group of a law firm
- Demonstrated experience structuring, drafting and negotiating agreements for the development, production and distribution of audiovisual content, including production services agreements, content license agreements, distribution agreements, and above-the-line talent agreements
- Working knowledge of the current media landscape, including experience with media-focused technology and entertainment business models
- Experience working under your own initiative and reacting quickly to make decisions that have both legal and business impact, and managing multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
- Experience working effectively and collaboratively cross-functionally, thinking creatively and being solution-oriented
- Experience working with guilds/unions (e.g., SAG-AFTRA, DGA, WGA, IATSE) and talent agencies (e.g., UTA, WME, CAA)
- Experience providing counsel to internet companies with video products and services offered to consumers
- Experience negotiating complex technology transactions

$167,000/year to $233,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
