Meta is seeking an experienced Interaction Sound Designer to join our innovative Creative Audio team. Our mission is to create meaningful experiences that enhance human connection through the power of audio. We're looking for someone with exceptional skill in sound design and music to help us bring this vision to life.Your focus will be on shaping audio and haptic experiences. You will be designing interaction sounds for Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads. You will be responsible for helping to build brand recognition, and enhance the overall brand experience.As an Interaction Sound Designer, you'll be part of a team of highly skilled creatives from diverse backgrounds and industries who are dedicated to crafting exceptional audio experiences. You'll have access to state-of-the-art recording facilities at our internal studios, allowing you to bring your audio vision to life. The role combines functional sound design thinking and execution with a demonstrated ability to innovate in new and virtual mediums. Candidates must have a solid understanding of interaction sound design, its impact on people and their experiences, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of sonic experiences, including accessibility.You will be involved in all aspects of the sound design process, from concept to iteration and refinement, to preparing and implementing assets, to testing performance and approving designs for public release. Candidates must be able to work autonomously as well as collaborate closely with team members and product groups while leading complex projects, across multiple platforms and mediums, through to completion. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential, as you'll provide creative feedback and work closely with cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with partners across multiple areas of focus and disciplines to define the sonic landscape of a wide range of software and hardware experiences.As a centralized team, we touch nearly every product Meta produces, making our team integral to the company's success. We collaborate with product and creative teams across Meta to drive sonic innovation and create meaningful experiences that challenge the norms and connect people in new ways.

Interaction Sound Designer Responsibilities:
  • Craft unique, memorable, and iconic sonic experiences for the 3+ billion people who use Meta technologies.
  • Drive complex interaction sound design + haptics projects through completion.
  • Use your proven understanding of interaction sound design to define and distill broad concepts into actionable deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of sound design systems by establishing audio design standards, guidelines, and best practices, while being the go-to expert for all things sound, including design standards, best practices, and implementation guidelines.
  • Execute in a fast-paced and highly fluid environment
  • Collaborate closely with other sound designers to ensure systems alignment across products
  • Collaborate closely with all partners to determine scope of work, planning and execution of sound design and implementation.
  • Influence key business decisions within the organization and product/ business area, leveraging clear data-driven decision making
  • Influence and drive sonic excellence in order to maintain quality and leverage existing resources for product consistency and efficiency
  • Develop and maintain a consistent sonic brand identity across key Meta touchpoint
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with Sound design and Interaction Sound Design in particular.
  • 5+ years creating UX sonic experiences for products in mobile, hardware, and non-traditional or immersive environments.
  • Experience creating original sound design for high-profile products or experiences.
  • Experience with sound design synthesis and latest plugins.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated music production experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in Pro Tools and/or other professional DAW's.
  • Understanding of human-centered design.
  • Experience managing, scoping and communicating project milestones and deliverables.
  • Experience testing implementation of sounds.
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Time-management and organizational skills to meet delivery specifications and deadlines
  • Understanding of Design Systems and systems thinking
  • Understanding of haptics design patterns and principles
  • Understand accessibility requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with technical teams and software developers to ensure seamless and efficient sound implementation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mobile audio experience
  • Experience in designing audio for AR and VR experiences
  • Experience with game engines (Unity, Unreal)
  • AR audio experience with AR design tools (Spark, Snap Studio)
  • Experience with audio middleware (Wwise, FMOD)
  • Knowledge of acoustics, equipment set ups and calibration
  • Experience mixing in a variety of mediums, such as mobile and spatial audio
  • Understanding of programming and technical sound paradigms in VR, AR, or other immersive mediums

$137,000/year to $191,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
