Meta seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel for Healthcare and Medical Device Compliance on Facebook's Corporate Compliance & Ethics team. This position will play a key role delivering hardware product regulatory compliance counseling to the Reality Labs and Infrastructure Data Center second line compliance and business units, with a focus on fraud & abuse, medical device compliance, FDA and analogous international compliance issues in the medical device area.This role requires developing and scaling compliance resources and infrastructure to ensure consumer and commercial products and accessories distributed globally meet applicable hardware regulatory and FDA requirements in all relevant jurisdictions. This position will manage a growing team dedicated to supporting RL product compliance. This role will be critical to a vertical that goes beyond traditional compliance counseling, delivering practical operational and product solutions to a broad range of internal stakeholders, including product counsel peers and highly skilled compliance professionals. Healthcare and Medical Device Compliance Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a high-talent team in delivering day-to-day legal counsel to a broad range of legal and business partners on risk and legal obligations concerning hardware product compliance, FDA and analogous international obligations
  • Provide guidance on regulatory engagement strategy and coordinate Meta's response to regulatory inquiries and enforcement actions. Review and advise on key regulatory outreach, filings and briefing documents in coordination with cross-functional partners
  • Advise on hardware product compliance, FDA and analogous international compliance obligations arising under contracts, licenses, laws, regulations, and other legal requirements
  • Monitor emerging global medical device laws and regulations potentially applicable to Facebook's products. Lead cross-functional response to new medical device related legal obligations. Engage in shared monitoring of other global laws and regulations applicable to Facebook's products
  • Identify opportunities for developing policies, resources, tools, and processes to scale compliance counseling that optimizes compliance impact.
  • Develop and align hardware product compliance and FDA programming mapped to the pillars of an effective compliance program
  • Support escalations of material product compliance and medical device risks to leadership
  • Develop, support, and execute key training for targeted audiences
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) with membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 8+ years of practicing attorney experience, including in-house and/law firm
  • Compliance legal experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience managing a team
  • In-house experience representing technology, consumer electronics, telecommunications, or medical device companies on commercialization matters. This includes delivering regulatory advice for technology advancing faster than applicable policies and regulatory regimes
  • Experience advising on applicable quality management system requirements
  • Experience delivering practical advice under pressure and prioritizing work
  • Experience collaborating with teams to solve problems, including experience leading projects or programs that rely on - and bring together - multiple teams

$226,000/year to $304,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
