Meta is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our Release to Production (RTP) team working on high scale compute and/or storage initiatives. Our servers and data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure operates efficiently to deliver our innovative services. The RTP team is responsible for the end-to-end Hardware Lifecycle of all Meta servers including pre-production hands-on system and hardware debugging and stress testing, enabling production-ready system monitoring, automated provisioning and automated remediation of issues. RTP team also helps in exploring, developing and productizing new software and hardware technologies for compute and storage servers at scale, including QLC, ARM, CXL, HSM, and the core compute platforms that support AI programs featuring MTIA. RTP-NPI team in RTP work closely with HW/SW co-design teams, hardware designers, networking teams, system manufacturers, component vendors, capacity engineering, production engineering, production services, and data center operations teams to enable new systems that will be deployed in our production data centers. We also work across service and hardware architectures for new platform designs, build prototypes to demonstrate the value, enable go/no-go decisions and optimize these systems in production.

Hardware Systems Engineering Manager, RTP NPI Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of 8-10 engineers committed to develop and scale platforms and technologies in one of the largest infrastructures in the world
  • Partner closely with Hardware Design, Sourcing, Application, Service, and Datacenter teams during new product development, and transition to sustaining
  • Drive vendors and support your team to drive vendors during the new product introduction process, on initiatives in the sustaining phase, and on developing roadmap for future products
  • Be an effective people manager who is also technically hands on. Provide technical leadership and guidance to your team members as well as partner teams
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and root cause of system failures and isolate the components/failure scenarios while working with internal & external stakeholders
  • Participate in technical design discussions and help influence product strategy
  • Communicate cross-functionally across various teams, organizations and internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering efforts
  • Influence strategies to detect and diagnose hardware/firmware/software health issues across Facebook infrastructure. Lead teams to develop experiments and build prototypes while driving these efforts
  • Continuously improve cross functional collaboration with partnership teams to improve quality and efficiency for NPI
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience as a People Manager
  • 6+ years of experience in one or more domains such as ASIC development (Silicon design or bring up or characterization), compute (ARM, x86, DDR), storage (NVMe, SSD, HDD), AI-ML hardware/software (GPUs, TPUs), or server platform development
  • Knowledge of server architecture and components across Compute/AI systems
  • Experience in leading strategic implementation and planning for risk and growth
  • Developing and managing requirements, and making data-driven decisions
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience leading/managing teams with some of the following modules/domains: Servers, CPU, SSDs, HDDs, GPU, DRAM (DDR4/5, LPDDR5, or HBM), PCIe, Network, System Firmware

$163,000/year to $225,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
