We are seeking a highly accomplished Engineering Manager to build and grow a new display engineering team in China. The team will be a critical pillar under the Glass Display Team (GDT) which is responsible for all the AR and smart-glass display programs in Meta.As the leader of this new China team, you will be responsible for growing and overseeing multiple technical domains of display in the region, including display optics, process and equipment development and opto-mechanics. You will be driving display NPI/NTI activities and module/system development in China across display supply chains. You and your team will be supporting and collaborating with the GDT display module and system teams in the USA. As the point of contact for GDT in China, you will have extensive collaboration with other in-region Meta teams including metrology, PD, SQE, Tech-ops, along with international suppliers across time zones. Clear and effective communication is essential to remove barriers and ensure seamless collaboration across teams. Your background in display engineering along with with your experience of developing a team from zero to one and your leadership across technical domains and across orgs will be great assets for us. Together, combined with your passion in AR and smart glasses will enable you to make a significant impact on the development of cutting-edge AR and smart-glass display technologies and products.

Engineering Manager : Display Engineering China Responsibilities:
  • Hire, grow and manage a team including display optics, process and equipment, and opto-mechanical engineers
  • Drive the execution of display engineering builds in China. Identify display risks, track and resolve issues through various phases of engineering development and production.
  • Serve as gatekeeper for display performance across modules and systems at factories in China throughout the engineering build phases.
  • Verify and validate display performance, drive the failure analysis of engineering gaps across the display supply chain, and drive corrective actions to balance manufacturability, cost implications, and performance.
  • Support the iteration of module-system specification allocation and convergence using build data and DoEs, and advanced analysis. Resolve discrepancies and ensure alignment across all levels across factories and supply chains.
  • Lead display discussions in factories in China and serve as the display interface between multiple functions (Metrology, display modules in US, reliability engineering, PD, Tech Ops, SQE, PQE, etc).
  • Lead and guide international suppliers to execute display tasks, ranging from build execution, offline DOEs and data analysis, to scaling suppliers' capability to support multiple product programs
  • Develop and mature work models with internal and external partners across time zones.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master degree in Display Engineering, Optical engineering, Physics, Optics, process engineering, mechanical engineering or a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas: Systems design,Radiometry and photometry, physical and geometric optics, Image quality analysis and metric development, lamination and high-precision alignment processes and equipments, display and optical metrology and opto-mechanical design and analysis.
  • Successful track record of delivering display modules or display systems into mass production
  • Experience in optical manufacturing, lens manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, display or camera module, metrology
  • Experience performing and designing DOE, data analysis, SPC control, yield improvement, root cause investigation, FACA, and quality control.
  • Experience in working with display suppliers, and familiar with ODM/JDM model
  • Proficient in one or more simulation and analysis tools, such as ZEMAX, Lighttools, CodeV, JMP, Matlab, Python or similar programs
  • 10+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with external partners in high-volume consumer electronics product development with 5+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience with handling ambiguity and collaborate effectively with large cross-functional teams and multilayer supply chains.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in the field of Display Engineering and Optical engineering or a relevant technical field.
  • Experience in bringing up first generation technologies into device form factors
  • Experience with multiple full life cycle AR/VR product launches.
  • Experience with end to end display module development, from components to system and balancing the performance and cost
  • Six Sigma experience, Green Belt.
