We are seeking an exceptional leader to join our team as the Director of Technical Program Management and Chief of Staff. This role will oversee the technical program management function, ensuring successful program execution, process improvement, and team growth. Additionally, as Chief of Staff, you will support the VP of Hardware Engineering in operational business rhythms, department processes, team project management, staffing, and budget planning.

Director of Technical Program Management and Chief of Staff Responsibilities:

  • Lead and grow the technical program management team, driving development of core hardware products and platforms for next-generation AR/VR devices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive awareness and buy-in throughout the organization.
  • Develop and execute end-to-end program plans, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of programs.
  • Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions.
  • Work with engineering and product management leadership to define and revise long-term strategy for the organization.
  • Perform people management responsibilities, including hiring, developing, and implementing organizational structure, delivering performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching.
  • Scale the organization to support multiple fast-paced product categories.
  • Articulate technology, requirements, goals, and milestones of the team.
  • Work with teams to set milestones, communicate program statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks.
  • Ensure what we build has the right balance of cost versus benefit, focusing on addressing highest priority partner team and customer needs.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience building and managing a team of Technical Program Managers, with a focus on hardware product development.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex hardware products to market, with expertise in areas such as: System architecture and design Component selection and qualification Manufacturing and supply chain management Regulatory compliance and certification
  • Proven understanding of software development processes and best practices, with the experience in collaborating effectively with software teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience growing organizations and developing a team.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills, with the experience in working effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in the consumer electronics industry, with a focus on wearable devices or other portable electronics.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as UL, CE, and FCC.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools, such as Jira or Asana.
  • Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience with process improvement methodologies.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

$309,000/year to $358,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
