Facebook is seeking a Data Center Capacity Engineer to join the Strategic Planning team to focus on data center performance and capacity modeling initiatives. This person would be required to work cross-functionally with a number of engineering teams to ensure optimal operations and growth of data center capacity and computing resources from both a cost and technology perspective. Data Center Capacity Engineer Responsibilities:
- Scale one of the largest data center and computing footprints in the world.
- Work with Data Center Engineering, Capacity Engineering, Product Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, and Data Engineering teams to find the optimal way to scale the infrastructure.
- Provide visibility into power, performance and health for all data center locations: Develop capacity insights and KPI's for global portfolio of data centers utilization and how changes to our products and company events impact power, performance and asset utilization.
- Help optimize our capacity usage: Develop models to determine and drive scaling and utilization parameters and optimize capacity footprint.
- Help grow our data center footprint efficiently: Translate current and future software and application needs into requirements for data center location strategies ensuring optimal site-wide performance and cost savings.
- Tackle the state-of-the-art power and capacity performance issues: Analyze hardware roadmap and industry trends, identify bottlenecks and optimize data center performance and inform the strategic roadmap.
- Develop models and tools to monitor data center capacity performance and utilization: Monitoring, reporting, data-mining tools to do performance and capacity-related tests and analysis.
- Solve complex performance challenges: Closely partner with production engineering and software development teams to understand product and service architecture, latency requirements and develop data center capacity solutions to scale and optimize space and power.
- Find the game changers, and bring them on: Work with Engineering Teams to perform power and capacity analysis on cutting-edge data center and hardware designs to drive improvements in capacity and total cost of ownership.
- A lot of other cool work: Identify data center capacity-related issues and improvement areas proactively and work with systems, network, operations and engineering teams to discover resolutions.

- MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related fields
- 3+ years of experience in software and hardware performance engineering, capacity engineering, and Capacity Planning
- Experience in coding & scripting languages such as C++, C#, Java, Python
- Database experience.
- Analytical, budgeting and planning experience.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in MySQL.
- Experience with Statistical tools and modeling
