The Reality Labs XR Tech team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs in core technology and delivering them to market at scale. The XR Sensing Platform Team is seeking an Camera Perception Engineer who has extended experience in conducting image quality testing and analysis for novel products.

Camera Perception Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct objective and perceptual experiments of prototype hardware and software to critically examine image quality, behavior, and performance.
  • Analyze experiment results and give feedback to direct feature development (Hardware, Image Signal Processor, Camera algorithm design and tuning) with cross functional business partners.
  • Test in the lab and in the field (required short trips to test locations) capturing image quality datasets for camera development
  • File bugs, create reports, and lead presentations on image quality development

  • Bachelors in Photography, Imaging Science, Color Science, Architecture, Design, or related fields.
  • 2+ years experience in using professional photography equipment
  • 2+ years experience with operating equipment in an imaging lab
  • Experience in designing, executing, and analyzing perceptual and objective image quality test
  • Experience to identify, reproduce, and isolate image quality bugs via visual analysis
  • Proven track recording in creating clear and concise report to a wide range of audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters or PhD in Photography, Imaging Science, Color Science, Architecture, Design, or related fields
  • Demonstrated experience in regards to photography and videography features for final user.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Software QA process, photography, videography, retouching, imaging lab design and setup, or camera ISP and computation photography features.
  • Understanding of overall systems interactions in the image pipeline and their impact on image quality
  • Experience designing & conducting visual psychophysical studies

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
